WALK ROUTES

Here are just a few ‘starter’ suggestions, of varying lengths, for those of you intrepid enough to consider investigating the surrounding area by foot.

Molivos - Petra
Starting from the local farmer’s co-operative building next to Alonia (near to the football field/running track). Take the small track/road that leads from the co-operative (with the pinewoods on your right). Eventually you come to the road that leads from Molivos to Vafios. Turn left and walk for about 100m, past the Hotel Marilena, then turn right onto a track, that takes you to Petra via the reservoir. Note: just before Petra the track becomes very uneven in places! (6kms approx.)

Eftalou - Skala Sikaminia
Very straightforward!! Simply walk (or take the local bus) from Molivos to Eftalou – and keep going!! Note: This road is only asphalted in places, and can be hot & dusty in mid-summer, but it follows the coast and offers spectacular views. (9kms approx.)

Petra - Petri - Vafios
Take the road from the back of Petra that leads to Petri. Walk directly through the back of Petri (keep going up) until you find the stream with old watermills close by. After crossing the stream you will find a path on your left which you follow until you arrive at a T junction – turn right for Stipsi, left for Vafios. Note: the stream is narrow and easily crossed. (8kms approx.)

Eftalou - Vafios
Start from the road of Eftalou near the camping area of Molivos (near the Donkey farm). Follow the road that leads inland from camping towards the mountains. After you pass the ‘town dump’, you will come to a junction – left towards Argenos, right towards Vafios. (10kms approx.)

Vafios - Mountain (Lepetimnos)
From Vafios follow the road that leads past the village for approx. 1km, until you find the first non-gated track on your right. Follow the track until it ends, and you will find another smaller track that leads uphill, all the way to the top. If you are so inclined you will see from the summit a similar track on the other side which leads down to the little village of Pelopi on the other side. Note: Not for the faint-hearted, as long stretches of the track are very steep. (7kms approx.)
